How does Laser Hair Removal work?
It uses laser energy to produce long-term hair reduction. This is done by producing heat in the hair, which is transferred to the follicle. The process produces inflammation which sends a signal to the hair follicle to go into the resting phase. Depending on the location of the hair, a series of 5 to 6 treatments is the normal number of sessions done within a 4 to 6-week interval.
Some number of maintenance treatments may be needed to keep all the hair away in a given area. Usually, the hair is reduced in amount and thickness for a very long period after a single treatment.
Eventually, maintenance treatments may be required at yearly intervals or even longer. This depends on the individual and the area being treated. The frequency of maintenance treatments varies considerably from person to person.
